Clients who have serious holes or deterioration of the tooth enamel should not have teeth whitening. Similarly, if you have a dead tooth or non vital teeth, these will not respond to the treatment. Crowns and Vaneers will only be polished to their original colour. Whilst there is no evidence of harm, teeth whitening is best to not be performed whilst you are pregnant.
When the blue laser light activates the whitening gel, it releases oxygen and water free radicals which bond the molecules to the tooth which causes discoloration. The procedure then oxidises the pigmentation of the teeth through the dentin tubles restoring them to white.
